FIELD OPERATIONS (FO) DEPARTMENT PROFILE

The Field Operations department metamorphosed from the previous existing ANARD and ITD department of the Commission. It is formed to ensure the synergized operations of the two previous seemingly unrelated departments. Has team of officers with diverse knowledge in Agriculture, Tourism, Forestry, Rural development, Organizational development among others.

OBJECTIVES

To stimulate high economic growth in the Region through promotion of micro agro-processing for export, greenhouse vegetable production and support services (raw material mobilization) to the 1D1F. To develop the Central Region as a sustainable tourism destination, offering authentic and unique experiences tied to the region’s natural historical and cultural resources Create Data base for all tourism attraction site including the hospitality industry in Central Region Promote tourist attractions both home and abroad in the Region Promote indigenous culture and traditional history by using the chiefs in the region (the value of African culture and the good story about Ghanaian culture) Reviving /Strengthen the harmonization of tourism promotion institutions in the Region Promote eco-tourism project to support community livelihood initiative

 

FUNCTIONS

The department is responsible for the development of culturally and environmentally sustainable tourism in the Central Region. Tourism Destination Management Training of Tourism Operators  (Forts and Monuments, Hoteliers, Handicraft producers, Transport) The department is responsible for promoting agriculture and natural resource development to enhance agricultural productivity, food security, environmental management and wealth creation in the rural communities. Farmers and fishers capacity building Youth in vegetable production Non-traditional farming Alternative livelihood activities Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA)
