The Department of Gender – Central region, under The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) together with Central Regional Coordinating Council organized a three-days mentorship programme for eighty adolescent girls in the region on the subject, mentorship and girls empowerment summit 2021. From November 7 to 11, 2021.
Central Region is known for teenage pregnancy, early girl child marriages and high rate of cohabitation. It is in this regard that the department organized the said programme to safeguard the rights and well-being of adolescent girls in the region.
On the second day of the program, Mrs. Philimina Darko, Head of Special Desk (Gender, Disability & Climate Change), CEDECOM made a presentation on the topic ‘developing a savings culture’. The participants were taken through; the culture of savings, where to save, reasons to save and ways to save among others.
The programme was held at the SRC hall, UCC and funded by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
